Generally I advocate being open and up front in all dealings. There are a few exceptions: be less than obvious when dealing with diplomacy between countries, and matters involving neighbors, friends, family and enemies. And of course keep strangers in the dark, other than an occasional witness for Jesus.
A good example is my dog. He knows just what to expect. Here boy! Good dog. Treat?
